Gosh, I got a little damp when I got home from work this morning. Most boring tropical system I've ever lived through.

Lack of crap
After moving things to 4.1 and re-deploying all the scripts, I've noticed one good thing...a billionfold reduction in spam. Every day I would still get hit by comment spam for posts more than 2 years old, which of course ticked me off because it was 1) spam 2) a constant reminder I'm not writing something 3) spam 4) stupid. The vast majority wasn't even a "hey pls buy stuff", rather, it was link farm spam, to inflate various pay per click statistics at any cost.
Why me? Why the hell use me? It is rhetorical, I know, because the people doing it don't give a damn in any way, shape, or form, because enough people are dumb enough to click the link and generate that fraction of a penny.
Naturally, this blog run, I will be a lot more proactive in fending it off, because I hate spam, and it is stupid.

Satyr redux
Just testing still. I want to see how it deals with uploaded images.
Its a bit different. Lots of tags, a few more options. I'll have to see how the whole asset thing works out in this version.

Damn and blast! On a normal monitor everything is SCREWED UP. Why do defaults suck so much?

Epic fail
Ok, so things are going a little slower than I anticipated.
I did a stupid thing...I recompiled glibc to an earlier version. Bad move.
Rather than deal with it, I backed things up and reloaded the operating system on my laptop. Its recompiling from scratch now...which is OK actually. By starting over, I'll avoid all the previous mistakes I made with dependencies. Its just going to take a couple of days to get it all working the way I had.

Now begins the task of fiddling with all the CSS because I abhor defaults.
Now I need to create a large block of text to act as a placeholder, so I can see how all this is going to move around on the screen as I adjust various settings willy nilly. Does anyone even use that phrase anymore? Sounds like some sort of carnival ride. Anyway, this looks like plenty of text and will do nicely.
Although, I really should try adding some images too. Worst of all, all my monitors are widescreen...
